No. Zumalix is a shower filter, not a water softener. It does not remove the calcium and magnesium that make water technically ‘hard’.

Instead, it is designed to reduce chlorine, metals and particulates while helping inhibit scale formation. If your goal is to remove hardness minerals, a water-softening system serves a different purpose.

The important comparison is what each filter has been shown to reduce under realistic shower conditions - not simply how many filtration stages it advertises.

No. Unscrew your existing shower head and screw Zumalix onto the same hose. Installation takes around two minutes and requires no plumbing work.

Zumalix replaces the shower head without making permanent changes to the plumbing. Keep your original shower head somewhere safe, then reinstall it when you move. Zumalix can come with you to your next home.

Some people notice a change in how the water feels or how easily their products rinse away from the first few showers. Hair that has accumulated mineral and product deposits may take several washes to feel different.

We recommend using Zumalix consistently for at least three to four weeks before deciding. Results will vary depending on your water, hair, skin and existing level of buildup. 

One filter lasts roughly 3-4 months for a typical one or two person household. A larger household or particularly challenging water conditions may require more frequent replacement.

The cartridge turns brown as it works, so you'll see when it's time. Rinse it every few weeks in between to keep it going. Two spares come in the box - that's about a year before you need more.

Replacing the cartridge on time helps maintain filtration performance.
